Mills red card upheld

Shrewsbury defender Joseph Mills has failed in his appeal against his sending-off against Walsall on Saturday.

The 24-year-old full-back, who is on loan from Oldham, was shown a straight red card following a challenge on Saddlers defender James Chambers. Shrewsbury appealed against the dismissal but an FA panel has upheld the decision meaning Mills must serve a three-match ban. He will therefore miss games against Stevenage, Tranmere and Crewe. Shrews manager Mike Jackson told the club website: "I'm disappointed as I thought we had a very good case to challenge the decision, especially after consulting the people that we did and with the work everyone put in. "I don't think it was a sending-off and it's another example of a wrong decision which we are being punished for."
