Gary Simpson lauded goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell for two fine second-half saves to help his side secure a 0-0 draw at Bristol Rovers.
O'Donnell, borrowed from Sheffield Wednesday, flung himself to parry Mustapha Carayol's 70th-minute shot and did even better to keep out a fierce drive from Lee Brown five minutes from time, leaving the Rovers player holding his head in disbelief. And Simpson, who hails from Sheffield, admitted his hometown club have done him a big favour. "Richard is a presence behind our defence. Wednesday think highly of him and I am delighted to have been allowed to have him on loan," he said. "I think he would have been disappointed if either shot had beaten him. But he did his job and we defended so well that he wasn't all that busy. "We have taken a point at a club doing well under a new manager. We knew we would come under pressure, but we have restricted them to few chances. The way we set up we were just hoping one opportunity would break our way and it happened when their keeper made a great save from George Donnelly in the second half."
