Spanish side far too strong for Greeks

Sevilla had far too much for AEK Athens as they eased into the UEFA Champions League group stages, courtesy of a 4-1 away win, which secured a 6-1 aggregate success. The game was originally meant to have been played last Tuesday but was called off following the death of Sevilla defender Antonio Puerta. Juande Ramos' classy side headed to Greece with a two-goal advantage and never looked like surrendering their lead against a AEK side that could not live with the Uefa Cup holders. By half-time Sevilla were 3-0 up as Seydou Keita added to Luis Fabiano's double, which included a penalty.

      AEK woe

Alexander Kerzhakov increased Sevilla's advantage after the break, before AEK's woes were compounded when Gustavo Manduca missed a penalty. With eight minutes remaining Brazilian veteran Rivaldo showed his team-mate how to convert from 12 yards, with another penalty, but on the night it proved scant consolation. Sevilla now take their place in Group H, alongside Arsenal, Steaua Bucharest and Slavia Prague, while AEK will face Austrian club Salzburg in the Uefa Cup.
