Seven drivers penalised in all, including three penalties alone for Pastor Maldonado

To describe Sunday’s Hungarian GP as frenetic might be an understatement. But if it was difficult to keep up with the action at times then spare a little sympathy for the race stewards.
No fewer than 11 incidents were referred to them for further investigation during the course of 70 eventful laps, with nine penalties handed out in all.
Three of them alone went to Pastor Maldonado, who was banged to rights for overtaking Will Stevens behind the Safety Car, speeding in the pitlane and also colliding with Sergio Perez.
Besides Maldonado, Lotus team-mate Romain Grosjean, Lewis Hamilton, Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen all received penalty points on their super licences, with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa handed time penalties.
“It was a tough race and the stewards were certainly very strict today, very tough on driving with me and many other drivers,” said Maldonado, who eventually finished 14th. “I struggled at the start as our strategy was to run with the harder tyres, but then the strategy was working well with the softer tyres until the penalties affected our race.
“With Sergio Perez around the outside of me it felt like a racing incident to me; there was nothing intentional in the contact."
Perez, who later retired his Force India with brake problems, said that “the contact with Pastor compromised my race. I was as cautious around him as I could be and left him plenty of room but unfortunately it wasn't enough”.
Headache for Hungarian GP stewards:
Collision between Nico Rosberg and Daniel Ricciardo (no further action)

Daniil Kvyat - Leaving the track and gaining an advantage (10 sec time penalty + 2 penalty points)
