Fernando Alonso wishes good luck to Jenson Button in an amusing exchange over team radio ahead of the Monaco GP.

Fernando Alonso may be more than 4,000 miles away from Monaco - but that didn't stop him chatting to his replacement Jenson Button just before the start of the iconic race.

Alonso, racing at the Indianoplis 500 later in the day, came on the McLaren team radio to wish Button luck as he prepared for his one-off return to Formula 1 racing.

And it's clear the duo, who were team-mates through some of McLaren and Honda's darkest days before Button's departure last year, still have a wicked sense of humour as this hilarious exchange followed...

FA: "Jenson, my friend, I'm sure you wanted to hear my voice before starting the race. Just wishing you the best of luck, I'm following you on television, you did amazing yesterday."

JB: "Thank you!"

FA: "Take care of my car!"

JB: "OK... I'm going to pee in your seat."

FA: "No, please! Have fun. You did an amazing job yesterday, congratulations."

JB: "And you, buddy, have a good one."

Wehrlein and Button came together at Portier and as the McLaren tried to get down the inside, the two cars collided flipping the Sauber into the barriers.

Unfortunately for Button, despite qualifying ninth in an under-performing MCL32, he was forced to start the race from the pitlane due to changed parts on top of a 15-place grid penalty and retired from the race after a crash with Pascal Wehrlein.
