Sky F1's Johnny Herbert surprises Billy Monger with his first drive in an F1 car

The inspirational Billy Monger got the surprise of his life last week when he got to drive a Formula 1 car for the first time - and you can watch the full feature on Sky Sports F1.

Just over a year after undergoing a double leg amputation following a near-fatal British F4 crash, Billy, already making amazing progress on his motorsport comeback, completed a lifelong dream.

Monger thought he was turning up at Rockingham for a filming day with stunt driver Terry Grant and Sky F1's very own Johnny Herbert, but, little did he know, a 2011 Sauber had his name on it - quite literally!

After getting over the shock, the 19-year-old, who already has a British F3 podium this year, got to grips with the specially modified car. Since his incredible return to racing, Billy has had the throttle and gears on the steering wheel and a single pedal for braking, which he does with a shorter right prosthetic leg.

He then rocketed around the Northamptonshire track for 10 laps, clearly enjoying an unforgettable experience he never thought he would get to have.
