Lewis Hamilton drops back to eighth after a poor start in the Japanese GP.

In another crushing blow to his title hopes, Lewis Hamilton suffered a nightmare start to the Japanese GP.

The world champion, already 23 points behind Nico Rosberg in their title fight with five races remaining, crawled off the line and lost six positions at Suzuka.

With the Mercedes almost at a standstill, the field had to take emergency avoiding action with Hamilton fortunate that his car was still unscathed when it eventually got going.

"Sorry guys," Hamilton reported over team radio as he took responsibility for his setback.
