Chris Froome claimed a bronze medal behind impressive winner Tom Dumoulin in the World Championship individual time-trial in Bergen, Norway.
Tour de France and Vuelta champion Froome trailed Dumoulin throughout the 31km course and even the hilly finish did not see the Briton make any ground on him.
Dumoulin's winning time of 44 minutes and 41 seconds was nearly a minute faster than all of his competition, with Slovenia's Primoz Roglic the only man able to get within 60 seconds of the dominant Dutchman.
The Giro d'Italia champion's eventual winning margin over Roglic was 57.79 seconds with Froome 81.25 seconds back in third.
Dumoulin was part of the Team Sunweb squad which won the World Championship team time-trial title last weekend, a race in which Team Sky also took bronze.
Portugal's Nelson Oliveira finished a fine fourth ahead of Froome's Team Sky team-mates Vasil Kiryienka and Gianni Moscon, riding for Belarus and Italy respectively.
Reigning champion Tony Martin could only finish down in ninth place.
