Lizzie Deignan believes the strong performance of her Great Britain team-mates in Saturday’s World Championship road race bodes well for next year's event in Norway.

Deignan finished fourth in an impressive defence of her rainbow jersey as Denmark's Amalie Dideriksen sprinted to victory ahead of the Netherlands' Kirsten Wild in Qatar.

The flat Doha course was not ideally suited to Deignan or her seven team-mates, but Great Britain emerged as one of the strongest teams in the race and all but one of them finished.

Deignan said: "I loved it. What a great team, what a great atmosphere. They put it all on the line and we worked really well as a team, and going forward, that is something I feel really positive about.

"Looking forward to Norway, for instance, knowing that I'm going there with a group of women who can really produce something together is an exciting prospect."
