Steve Cummings has been added to Great Britain’s team for next month’s Olympic Games road race after Peter Kennaugh withdrew.
Cummings, who won stage seven of the Tour de France, reacted angrily to being omitted from the original five-man line-up when it was announced in June and later had an appeal rejected.
However, he has now been called up to the squad after Kennaugh admitted he was struggling for form in the wake of breaking his collarbone in May.
Kennaugh said: "London 2012 was one of the highlights of my career, so I am gutted to be missing out on Rio, but knowing that I am not able to give my best, I felt it was my duty to withdraw."
Cummings, 35, said: "I've shown over the 2016 season to date that I am in great shape and I look forward to going to Rio to represent my country, and hopefully, we as a team come back with a medal from the road race."
The Olympic road race takes places on Saturday, August 6, on a hilly, 256.4km course in and around Rio de Janeiro.
Chris Froome will lead Britain's team and will be supported by Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard and Adam Yates, as well as Cummings.
Team coach Rod Ellingworth said: "Since the selection panel made the original decision, there has been 38 days of world tour racing, during which time we have had some excellent results from the British Cycling squad. For example, we have had British riders wear the yellow, green and white jerseys at the Tour de France.
"I'm confident that with this team, Team GB can be competitive at the men's road race in Rio."
