Sir Bradley Wiggins and Lizzie Armitstead will be among a host of star names taking part in the Tour de Yorkshire later this month, organisers have revealed.

Wiggins will use the second edition of the three-day men's race to build endurance for this summer's Olympic Games and is expected to ride in support of WIGGINS team-mate Owain Doull.

World champion Armitstead, meanwhile, will ride on her home Yorkshire roads in the one-day women's race, which is being held for the first time and follows an identical route to the men's second stage, from Otley to Doncaster.

Last year's men's winner, Lars Petter Nordhaug, is back to defend his title and will be part of a strong Team Sky squad also containing Peter Kennaugh and Luke Rowe.

Orica-GreenEdge are also sending a high-calibre team containing Paris-Roubaix winner Mathew Hayman, up-and-coming sprinter Caleb Ewan and British climber Adam Yates.

Other marquee names confirmed as taking part include Tour de France stage winners Steve Cummings, Thomas Voeckler and Rohan Dennis.
