England have a fitness worry over all-rounder Ben Stokes ahead of the second Investec Test against Sri Lanka.

Stokes jarred his left knee while bowling during the first Test at Headingley on Friday and left the field during the morning session on Saturday as he was still troubled by the injury.

The 24-year-old was assessed by the England medical staff, although he was not sent for a scan, and he will be monitored again in the morning.

Stokes bowled seven overs in Sri Lanka's first innings with figures of 1-25 as the tourists were skittled for 91 in response to England's 298 all out.

He was unable to bowl in the second innings but was not missed as Sri Lanka were dismissed for 119 on Saturday afternoon to give England an emphatic victory by an innings and 88 runs.
