With the T20 World Cup over - and Australia the new champions - Sky Sports Cricket statistician Benedict Bermange looks at some of the top stats, including on Jason Roy, Kane Williamson, Mitchell Starc, Mitchel Marsh and Josh Hazlewood...
Spare a thought for Jason Roy, who has now played a total of 262 games in all Twenty20 cricket for 16 different teams without picking up a trophy, the most by anyone. However, he will take solace in the fact that Ravi Bopara played 277 matches before taking home his first title - the 2017/18 Bangabandhu Premier League in Bangladesh.
The Pakistan team that faced Australia in their semi-final at Dubai was the most experienced to ever take the field in a Twenty20 international, boasting 680 caps between them. England's team who faced South Africa at Sharjah set a new record for them, with a total of 575 caps.
Only one team has ever scored more runs in the last five overs of a successful run chase in the T20 World Cup than Australia in their semi-final against Pakistan. New Zealand's effort against England comes joint-third on that list. Both chases were achieved with an over to spare!
Australia warmed up for the competition by losing five bilateral Twenty20 series in a row - 2-1 to England, 2-1 to India, 3-2 to New Zealand, 4-1 to West Indies and 4-1 to Bangladesh.
The only other world champions to have lost multiple bilateral series in the build-up to an ICC tournament victory was India, who won the 1983 World Cup having lost 3-1 to Pakistan and then 2-1 to West Indies.
Kane Williamson scored 39 runs off 12 deliveries from Mitchell Starc in the final. Only one man has scored more runs from a single bowler in a game in T20 World Cup history - Chris Gayle - and he did it twice for good measure!
Only one bowler has ever conceded more runs in any Twenty20 international than Starc (0-60 from four overs) did in the final and yet managed to finish on the winning side. That bowler was Starc's fellow Australian paceman Andrew Tye, who took 2-64 against New Zealand in 2018 during a five-wicket win in Auckland.
Mitchell Marsh is now an ICC Tournament winner. He joins his father Geoff - who won the 1987 World Cup - as the only father-son champion duo.
Josh Hazlewood now joins Yuvraj Singh as the only players to have won the Under-19 World Cup, the World Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup.
