Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Kusal Perera has been called back from their tour of New Zealand after testing positive for a banned substance.

Perera returned a positive test during Sri Lanka's summer series against Pakistan and has been replaced by Kaushal Silva in their touring party.

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed Perera's withdrawal had been made ahead of his 'B' sample being tested, in line with current anti-doping regulations.

Perera played in the opening tour match against a New Zealand Board President's XI in Queenstown last week but made only one run across his two innings.

Silva has been a regular in Sri Lanka's Test team, playing as a specialist batsman, but struggled for form against the West Indies and was left out of the original tour party in favour of uncapped opener Udara Jayasundera, who made a patient 63 in Sri Lanka's second innings in Queenstown.
