Peter Siddle recalled by Australia following injury

Peter Siddle returns from injury to take his place in Australia's side for the first Test against South Africa, which starts on Thursday.

The 31-year-old seamer has been sidelined with a back injury, having last worn the national jersey nine months ago in Wellington, New Zealand.

Siddle is preferred to the uncapped Joe Mennie, as the Aussies attempt to recover from their recent 3-0 Test series defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.

He is one of three seamers in the team, with Australian selectors omitting left-arm spinner Jon Holland.

Batsman Usman Khawaja replaces all-rounder Moises Henriques with the returning Siddle making his 62nd Test appearance.

The tourists are set to wait until the morning of the match in Perth before naming their starting XI.
