Charles Colvile, Bob Willis and Mark Butcher dissect England's heavy defeat in the first Test by Windies in Barbados on The Cricket Debate.
There were stern words from both Bob and Mark on England's batting line-up as another collapse saw them lose 6-31 in their second innings to be bowled out for 246 as they fell to a heavy 381-run loss.
Bob reiterated his belief the batting side lacks quality, saying any batsmen averaging under 40 are not good to be playing Test cricket.
After part time off-spinner Roston Chase picked up 8-60, despite not particularly turning the ball, the pair were critical of the visitors' batsmen's shot selection, adding many causing their own demise.
Mark believes there is too much uncertainty for the players in the side, saying openers Rory Burns and Keaton Jennings are still auditioning for their places as is Jonny Bairstow at No 3.
Both Bob and Mark believe Ben Stokes is batting one position too high at No 5 but with three of four players perfect No 7s, the line-up continues to be unbalanced.
However, Mark admitted team selection was what disappointed him most about England's loss, with even the choice of spinner wrong - explaining Jack Leach needed to be Moeen Ali's understudy as a three-man pace attack has to have one spinner to bowl 25-30 overs and go at two runs an over.
Looking ahead to the next Test, the pair both feel Keaton Jennings should make way for Joe Denly while Stuart Broad should replace Adil Rashid.
