England arrived in Perth on Thursday ahead of the third Test at the WACA

Moeen Ali will captain an England XI featuring Test hopeful Mark Wood in the two-day Ashes warm-up in Perth this weekend.

Ali is the only member of the team beaten in the second Test in Adelaide who will line up in the match against a Cricket Australia XI, with the side completed by England's back-up Ashes players and stars from the Lions.

Gary Ballance, wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, Mason Crane, Jake Ball - who played in England's defeat in the first Ashes Test in Brisbane - and Tom Curran will join Ali in a 12-man squad, alongside Lions players Wood, Keaton Jennings, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Ben Duckett and Liam Livingstone.

Moeen Ali's form and fitness is a concern for England after his ineffective performance with bat and ball in Adelaide.

Off-spinner Ali will get the chance to bowl some more overs in the contest, having taken just two wickets in the Ashes series to date, after he was affected by a finger injury in Brisbane.

England are 2-0 down with three to play in the Ashes, after their 120-run loss in the day-night second Test in Adelaide - Joe Root's side will bid to start their comeback bid at the WACA on December 14.

The two-day warm-up game ahead of the Test match will start on Saturday at Richardson Park in Perth.
