Steven Finn has been ruled out of England's World Twenty20 squad, with his place going to Liam Plunkett.

Middlesex pace bowler Finn has suffered a left calf strain and will not be fit in time for the tournament in India next month.

Finn had missed the limited-overs part of England's tour of South Africa with a side strain.

He had made a successful return to international cricket last summer, playing a big role in England's Ashes win over Australia, but his injury problems returned and he was ruled out of the series against Pakistan with a foot problem.

Finn proved his fitness ahead of the Test series against South Africa, only to break down again before the one-day and Twenty20 series, both of which England lost.

England leave for the tournament on March 8 and will face Sri Lanka, South Africa and the West Indies in their group, as well as one of the two teams to come through qualifying.

Finn wrote on Twitter: "Really disappointed to have picked up another injury on my road to recovery. Gutted doesn't describe it. Good luck to the guys out there!"
