Derbyshire all-rounder Shiv Thakor to appear in court over sexual exposure charges

Derbyshire all-rounder Shiv Thakor will appear in court next month facing charges of two counts of sexual exposure.

The 23-year-old will attend South Derbyshire Magistrates Court on October 4 where he will answer charges in relation to alleged incidents in June, Derbyshire Police have confirmed.

The force has been investigating two separate allegations he indecently exposed himself to women at a housing development on Radbourne Lane just outside of the city.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: "A 23-year-old man has been issued with a summons to appear at court in connection with two incidents of sexual exposure in Mackworth.

"Shivsinh Thakor, of Richardson Way in Derby, will answer charges of sexual exposure relating to alleged incidents on Monday, June 12 and Monday, June 19 at a housing development off Radbourne Lane."

Thakor has been suspended on full pay by his club with his last appearance coming in a 128-run Specsavers County Championship Division Two defeat to Northamptonshire in June.

A Derbyshire statement read: "The club has been advised that one of its players, Shiv Thakor, has been issued with a summons to appear at Derby Magistrates Court.

"Thakor was arrested by police investigating allegations concerning the player when he was not on duty with the club.

"In consultation with the player's representatives, the player continues to be suspended on full pay and he is suspended from all cricket activity by ECB.

"For legal reasons, the club is unable to comment further at this stage."

Thakor began his career at Leicestershire and represented England from under-15 to under-19 level before joining Derbyshire in 2015.

He was named captain of the England Under-19s for their tour of South Africa in January 2013, but suffered a broken finger in the opening match and missed the rest of the trip.
