Hampshire have signed West Indian all-rounder Darren Sammy for the 2016 NatWest T20 Blast.
Sammy will arrive in time for Hampshire's T20 Blast clash with Kent Spitfires on Thursday June 2 and will be available until the start of the Caribbean Premier League in July.
Sammy will feature alongside his Pakistan Super League teammate Shahid Afridi as one of Hampshire's two T20 overseas players.
"I love playing in the UK and I'm really excited to have signed with Hampshire," said Sammy.
"Hampshire have had strong T20 results in the past which I'm hoping will continue this coming summer. They also have a rich West Indian history which I'm looking forward to adding to the best I can. I can't wait to meet my new team-mates in June."
The West Indies T20 captain is more than familiar with the T20 Blast after a big impact during a short stint with Nottinghamshire last season, averaging 41 with the bat in four matches.
Hampshire Director of Cricket, Giles White said: "We are very proud of our T20 record and hopefully Darren can contribute to another successful campaign. He's an explosive player and an infectious character which was what we were looking for; it will be great having him around."
