Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton and Rob Key debate England's World Cup squad
Thursday 18 April 2019 15:49, UK
Sky Sports Cricket commentators Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton and Rob Key caught up on the day England's provisional World Cup squad was named.
Sussex seamer Jofra Archer was not included in the 15-man squad for now but did receive his maiden call-up, and will be part of the squads for next month's ODIs against Ireland and Pakistan.
Our panel debate the merits of England's selections - and analyse who is most at threat should Archer stake a strong claim for World Cup selection in his fledgling international career.
Plus, our pundits discuss Key getting dropped in favour of Kevin Pietersen and the phone call from former chairman of selectors David Graveney to tell him he has lost his place in the Test side.
Atherton also recalled being selected to play in three World Cups but only featuring, and captaining, in 1996 after back injuries ruled him out of the 1992 and 1999 tournaments.
The team were at the One-Day Cup match between Kent and Hampshire in Canterbury and there was just enough time for Key to remind everyone that he has tipped batsman Zak Crawley to be a future England star!
