Tom Curran says taking his first five-wicket haul for England was "very special".
The Surrey paceman, who was drafted into the squad following an injury to Liam Plunkett after the third ODI, revealed his joy at registering figures of 5-35 at the Optus Stadium, Perth, in the fifth and final match of the campaign to spearhead England to a 12-run victory.
"It's a very special day," said Curran.
"You want to be asked to perform in the big moments and to be involved when the game can go either way, that's when you get the most satisfaction. What a stadium, what a day and what a team to be a part of.
"I'm just looking to take these moments. It's a pleasure to be part of this side."
The 22-year-old, who made his Test debut in the Boxing Day match against Australia last month, admits he prepared diligently behind the scenes to take his opportunity after the initial disappointment of being left out of the white-ball format down under.
"If you're getting left out as a player and you're happy about it, international sport is probably not the place for you," he said.
"Watching the boys playing the calibre of ODI cricket has been a pleasure to watch and I'm glad I have taken my chance. That's what we train for."
England ODI captain Eoin Morgan added that Curran's performance following his recall was a promising sign for the future, and that competition for places will continue to push the team forward.
"To see Tom bowl a spell like that as such a young guy is a great sign," Morgan said.
"We are spoilt for choice. Guys are fighting for positions left, right and centre. We are a special group of players who are talented.
"To win whilst we are learning is very special."
