What a way to win a Test match!
England moved into a 2-1 series lead over South Africa with just one Test to play as Moeen Ali took the first hat-trick in 100 Test matches at The Oval.
The off-spinner removed Proteas opener Dean Elgar and Kagiso Rabada, both edging turning deliveries to Ben Stokes at slip, with the final two balls of his 16th over before trapping Morne Morkel lbw with the first ball of his next.
The sense of drama was added to by the fact that the umpire initially turned down the lbw appeal against Morkel, prompting a review from England.
With the England players huddled together in the middle, DRS confirmed that the ball had pitched in line, straightened and was going on to hit the stumps. Cue wild celebrations.
As well as being the first in a Test at The Oval, Ali's hat-trick was also the first by an England spinner since Tom Goddard, also against South Africa, in December 1938 and the first to end a Test since 1902.
