Highlights from day one of the 5th Test between India and England in Chennai

Moeen Ali's fifth hundred raised England's hopes of finishing their Test series against India on a high, on day one of the fifth Test against India.

Click play on the video above to see the best of the action on day one as England's number four struck an unbeaten 120 - the tourists, 3-0 down in the series, closing on 284-4.

England, who handed a debut to Liam Dawson and recalled Stuart Broad, won the toss for the fourth time in the series and again opted to bat first.

However, they made a shaky start as Ishant Sharma, playing his first Test of the series, removed Keaton Jennings; the left-hander going after a full, wide delivery and nicking through to Parthiv Patel for one.

Alastair Cook, having gone to 11,000 Test runs with two from the first ball of the day, was the next to go for 10, falling to Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth time in the series, pushing at one and edging it to Virat Kohli at slip to leave England 21-2.

Ali was dropped at midwicket soon after but he dug in before Joe Root (88) went to his 27th Test fifty from 91 balls.

Their stand ended in controversial fashion when Root looked to sweep Jadeja and was adamant that he made no contact with the ball as it skidded through to Parthiv - India overturning the 'not out' decision on review.
