Former England captain Charlotte Edwards has joined Adelaide Strikers for the Big Bash League in Australia this winter.

Edwards, who retired from international cricket after being replaced as captain by Heather Knight this summer, has since led the Southern Vipers to the inaugural Kia Women's Super League title in an outstanding domestic season.

The 36-year-old's new deal with the Strikers follows her previous stints in Perth with Western Fury and the Scorchers.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity with the Strikers, especially with the growth of women's cricket in Australia at an all-time high," Edwards said.

"The WBBL has gone from strength to strength."
