We take a look back at the England v Sri Lanka Test series for 2014, where there was heartbreak for James Anderson

England, and James Anderson in particular, begin their Test series against Sri Lanka on Thursday looking for revenge!

That's because on the visitors' last trip to these shores, they secured a first ever series win in England with a dramatic win off the penultimate ball of the series - Anderson fending Shaminda Eranga to backward square.

England's Headingley heartbreak came after Anderson had survived 55 scoreless deliveries and Moeen Ali hit his first, and still only, Test hundred, looking to salvage a draw.

Moeen finished unbeaten on 108 off 181 balls, but Dhammika Prasad's second-innings 5-50, Rangana Herath's 3-59 off 42 overs, and Eranga's late strike ensured a historic win for Sri Lanka by 100 runs.

Sam Robson (127) had earlier notched his only Test hundred in England's first innings, but was outdone by Angelo Mathews' 160 in the second which set up Sri Lanka's victory charge.
