Athers on England's "resilience", Curran's no-ball, and Warner's "scintillating" century

England should not be disheartened after day one of the Boxing Day Test, says Michael Atherton, even though Steve Smith looks in "ominous" form.
Smith built on the fine work of David Warner - who smashed 103 from 151 balls at the MCG after being caught off a Tom Curran no-ball on 99 - by ending unbeaten on 65 in Australia's 244-3.
The Australia captain has not been dismissed in a Test in Melbourne since 2014, scoring 134 not out and 70 not out against Windies and an unbeaten 165 against Pakistan in that time…
Watch Athers' video review at the top of the pace as he reflects on a "lopsided" day, featuring a "scintillating" century from Warner, England clawing their way back into the game, and then Smith and Shaun Marsh (31no) lifting Australia again towards the close.
The former England captain also discusses the dramatic moment debutant Curran overstepped and Warner completed his hundred a ball later as well as Moeen Ali's struggles on a day witnessed by over 88,000 fans inside the stadium.
