Bob Willis gives his England ratings after Pakistan series defeat

Which of the tourists earned 2/10?

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - OCTOBER 26: Jos Buttler of England leaves the field after being dismissed by Yasir Shah of Pakistan during day five of the 2

Bob Willis has come off his long run to deliver his England player ratings in the United Arab Emirates. Like the tourists' collapse in Sharjah, it isn't pretty…

So read on to see which of England's contingent scored just two out of 10, which spinner Bob would pick in South Africa, and who came top of the class against Pakistan... When you've done that, check out Aamir Sohail's Pakistan player ratings here.

ALASTAIR COOK - 7/10
450 runs @ 90.00

BOB SAYS: He is one of just two England batsmen playing well enough for Test cricket, along with Joe Root, and captained pretty well, too, with very limited bowling resources. A pretty good tour all things considered.

MOEEN ALI - 2/10
84 runs @ 14.00
9 wickets @ 48.66

BOB SAYS: He is totally unsuited to opening the batting and was unable to provide any economy for his captain with the ball, so much so that England had to play three spinners in Sharjah looking for one that would work.

Image: Bob wouldn't pick Moeen in South Africa - as an opener or a spinner

IAN BELL - 2/10
158 runs @ 31.60

BOB SAYS: A quality player but with a horrendous 2015 under his belt, recording nine scores of nought or one. He is going to have to convince everyone that he still has the will to carry on.

Also See:

JOE ROOT - 6/10
287 runs @57.40

BOB SAYS: A class act and certainly there for the long haul but vulnerable to left-arm over-the-wicket bowling; he keeps getting out caught behind or in the slip cordon with the ball angling across him.

JAMES TAYLOR - 6/10
78 runs @39.00

BOB SAYS: Only one outing but looked very compact and busy at the crease in the first innings, especially with his excellent play against spin. Two disappointing dismissals but clearly needs to be given a run in the side.

BEN STOKES - 5/10
88 runs @14.66
5 wickets @ 39.60

BOB SAYS: Bowling much better than he is batting. He did a fine job with the ball and looks to have more potential in that department than with the blade at the moment. His absence from bowling hit England hard in Sharjah.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes

JONNY BAIRSTOW - 3/10
134 runs @22.33

BOB SAYS: Unconvincing with the bat apart from in one innings and an absolute howler behind the stumps when failing to dismiss Mohammad Hafeez, a missed stumping that may have cost England the match.

ADIL RASHID - 5/10
8 wickets @69.50
103 runs @ 20.60

BOB SAYS: Apart from a five-for in the first Test, he was far too profligate with the ball. Did show some potential with the bat but my spinner in South Africa would be Zafar Ansari, who could give Cook control.

Image: Adil Rashid bowled too much dross, according to Bob

SAMIT PATEL - 4/10
3 wickets @ 54.66
42 runs @ 21.00

BOB SAYS: He got the ball to turn on occasions but, like Rashid, offered two bad balls an over and was generally punished. A competitive innings with the bat, as well as a duck, but I don't think we'll see him again.

STUART BROAD - 8/10
7 wickets @ 27.28
95 runs @ 47.50

BOB SAYS: Superb with the ball. Showed good stamina and while not having as many reverse-swing tricks as Anderson, still troubled the Pakistan batsmen. His batting form appears to be returning, too.

JAMES ANDERSON - 9/10
13 wickets @ 15.61

BOB SAYS: Jimmy put in a magnificent effort and is now a quality performer on any surface, responsive or not. I hope he goes on to get 500 Test wickets, something only Glenn McGrath and Courtney Walsh have done among seamers.

Image: James Anderson was England's standout in the UAE

JOS BUTTLER - 2/10
34 runs @ 8.50

BOB SAYS: He had no foot movement, batting with his shoelaces tied together. That went on to affect his keeping which for one and a half Tests was excellent. I think England need to look elsewhere for a keeper.

MARK WOOD - 6/10
6 wickets @ 28.33

BOB SAYS: He complemented Broad and Anderson well with his extra pace but his ongoing ankle problem is a concern if you are looking to play a settled side in South Africa this winter.
