Chris Eubank Jr, Joe Calzaghe, Floyd Mayweather Jr and others have been guided by their fathers

LAS VEGAS, NV - JULY 12: Boxer Danny Garcia (L) and his father and trainer Angel Garcia hold up the younger Garcia's WBC super lightweight belt during th

Chris Eubank Jr isn't the only boxer to have his career influenced by his father. Here are some of boxing's famous family teams...

Chris Eubank Jr & Chris Eubank Sr

It is the relationship everyone interested in British boxing seems to have an opinion on. As he closes in on a career-defining clash with the king of the middleweight world, Gennady Golovkin, Eubank Jr has swiftly become one of the biggest boxing 'draws' in this country.

At press conferences and on fight nights, his legendary father Eubank Sr has courted controversy. Some fans would rather see him take a seat a few rows back but Eubank Sr has highlighted the experience and know-how he can bring to an advisory role. Interestingly, he's not his son's trainer - that role falls to his own former trainer, Ronnie Davies.

Eubank Jr can talk - of that there is no doubt. He had plenty of wit to spend against Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan on The Gloves Are Off before battering the Irishman, but the growing perception is that Eubank Sr does the talking outside of the ring while his son does his in it.

Joe Calzaghe & Enzo Calzaghe

A story to warm the hearts of Welshmen and Italians alike, Joe enjoyed a spectacular career under the guidance of his father. He held every world super-middleweight title at one time or another and retired with a flawless record of 46-0-KO32; beating Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr in his final two fights in 2008.

Enzo, who is of Sardinian origin, settled down in Cardiff by chance and began helping out at Newbridge boxing club before taking it over when his enthusiastic son Joe was 18. Originally a musician, Enzo somehow managed to set aside his natural instincts as a father and develop a steely and uncompromising edge as a boxing coach. He famously recalled a Christmas Day running with his son in heavy snowfall.

Only one man managed to take Calzaghe the distance in his first 22 fights and his 23rd saw him complete the dream - knocking down and outpointing Chris Eubank to become a world champion at the Sheffield Arena. Enzo went on to train the likes of Enzo Maccarinelli and Nathan Cleverly.

Floyd Mayweather Jr & Floyd Mayweather Sr

Perhaps the most controversial relationship in our list. Mayweather Sr, who racked up a career of 28-6-1-KO17 during which he became renowned for his defensive skills, taught his namesake son to punch while he was still a toddler.

Around the same time, Mayweather Sr's tempestuous life outside the ring resulted in him receiving a gunshot wound to the leg. He claims that had he not used Mayweather Jr as a human shield, he would have been killed.

Mayweather Sr was in and out of his son's career as a trainer. When Mayweather Jr turned professional, his father was in prison and it was his uncle - Roger Mayweather - in the corner. Around 2000, after Mayweather Jr had already won a world super-featherweight title, father and son were at odds again. A decade-long rift followed, during which Sr sensationally offered to train Oscar De La Hoya against his own offspring.

The pair were finally reconciled in 2015 ahead of Mayweather Jr's long-awaited clash with Manny Pacquiao. Although he had been away from his son's career, Mayweather Sr had coached the likes of Ricky Hatton, Chad Dawson, Joan Guzman and Laila Ali.

Nigel Benn & Conor Benn

In boxing terms, the Benns are less close than the Eubanks. Nigel 'The Dark Destroyer' Benn resides in Australia, while Conor recently flew the nest for his father's old stomping ground of Ilford to begin life as a professional boxer. There has been no shortage of focus on his first three bouts, and the similarities in style between 'The Destroyer' and his hero are striking.

Benn Sr, whose rivalry with Eubank Sr was arguably the most famous in the history of British boxing, has already made clear he doesn't want to "interfere" in his son's career like he alleges his old foe is. The tangled web was strained even further during a recent press conference, when Eubank Sr criticised the absence of Nigel - prompting an angry reaction from Conor.

Benn missed his son's recent one-round dismantling of Lukas Radic but attended his first two professional contests and was clearly emotional after seeing them end in victories. After Conor's debut, he even entered the ring for an impromptu dance. The pair had danced together before, of course, but more violently and in a garage in Australia...

Danny Garcia & Angel Garcia

Raised in Philadelphia but of Puerto Rican origin, current WBC world welterweight champion Garcia is trained by his outspoken father. When Garcia Sr had emerged from a two-year prison sentence with his son 10 years old, he set about helping him achieve his dream of becoming a world champion.

Angel has revealed that his incarceration revolutionised his outlook on life and he has overseen his son's career for the last 15 years. In that period, 'Swift' has won WBA Super super-lightweight and WBC super-lightweight world titles in addition to the belt he currently holds.

Now 28, Danny has already defended world crowns back in Puerto Rico in front of his adoring public and with unification clashes against the likes of Keith Thurman and Kell Brook in the offing, has reiterated his commitment to his father's tutelage and insists he can't see himself ever being trained by anyone else.
