Lauren Price goads Natasha Jonas for Olympic failure: 'She didn't medal, I won gold'

Lauren Price has reignited her war of words with Natasha Jonas in the build-up to their world championship unification on March 7.

WBA welterweight titlist Price takes on UK rival Jonas, the WBC and IBF champion at 147lbs, at the Royal Albert Hall, live on Sky Sports.

Price won every major title going as an amateur and eventually wants to repeat the feat as a pro.

"I've got big dreams and to become undisputed there's no better thing than that in the professional ranks and that's just the start," Price told Sky Sports News.

"I want to create a legacy. That's what I want to do. I want to bring big nights back to Wales. It's a massive fight in March. I believe that I win that, I come through and then I want the biggest fights in boxing."

After their world title unification fight at the Royal Albert Hall was announced, Natasha Jonas says here highly anticipated fight against Lauren Price is a stepping stone for where she wants to be

March 7 could be her defining moment as a professional boxer. "It's a fight that I've wanted for a long time. I think everyone knows I've been pushing for it. I believe you call yourself a world champion, you should fight anyone," Price said.

"I'm in the pro game and I want to be the best and the best have to fight the best and that's it."

The verbal sparring between Jonas and Price began immediately after they both won their respective contests on the same card in December.

Price noted: "Jonas has come out and said that I think I'm better than what I am. But it just goes to show, the accolades I've got as an amateur. She went to the Olympics, she didn't medal. I won an Olympic gold medal and also I haven't lost a round as a professional yet.

"At the end of the day you can do all the trash-talking you want. When the bell goes, March 7 we'll see who comes out on top."

Price says she's 'over the moon' that she'll finally be able to take on Jonas in the ring.

But Jonas, the more experienced professional of the pair, is adamant that she will prevail.

"I'm confident every time. I always believe I can win every time. That's why I'm in the game and that's why I want to fight the best. It'll be a great fight," Jonas told Sky Sports News.

"I do respect everything that Lauren brings but I just think I'm better.

"I've been in with what I believe is bigger than better. There's nothing that Lauren Price brings that I think intimidates me at all."
