Promoter Eddie Hearn admits there is a "real possibility" that Anthony Joshua could make his American debut against Jarrell Miller.
The WBA 'super' and IBF heavyweight champion is currently preparing for his unification clash against WBO title holder Joseph Parker in Cardiff on March 31, live on Sky Sports Box Office, but Hearn has already made tentative plans for Joshua to make his first appearance in the US.
Miller will strengthen his position in the rankings with a victory over Johann Duhaupas in New York on April 28, live on Sky Sports, and he could receive the next fight against Joshua, if successful negotiations cannot be held for the British star to face WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
Hearn told Sky Sports: "I just said, while Deontay Wilder's residence belongs in fantasy island, we're looking at other options.
"We want to take Anthony Joshua to America in 2018, and Jarrell Miller is a real possibility, if he can look good against Duhaupas, and win that world title eliminator."
Nicknamed 'Big Baby', Miller holds a 21-fight unbeaten record, with 18 knockout victories, and will have a hometown crowd behind him if the fight goes ahead in the preferred venue.
"He's huge. He's about 20 stone, he's a great talker," said Hearn.
"He started off his career looking sensational. Last fight against Mariusz Wach not so. He's a tough guy to look good against, but stopped Mariusz Wach, many haven't.
"He's a threat. He's got a great engine, he's got great work-rate as well and he's confident that he beats Anthony Joshua.
"We feel like we need to go out and make a defence in the US. If we can do that in Brooklyn, against Brooklyn's very own Jarrell Miller, it's going to be exciting."
