Ted Cheeseman kept his momentum going with a dominant and classy shutout points victory over a courageous Tony Dixon.

The 22-year-old improved his record to 12-0-KO8 at York Hall, becoming just the second man to beat current Welsh Area champion Dixon, the unbeaten Londoner demonstrating great movement and shot selection over eight rounds of action.

Cheeseman should now be in line to challenge for the British super-welterweight title or he may have to face a final eliminator first.

'The Big Cheese' came out on the first bell light on his feet, quickly trying to find a home for the uppercut.

While Dixon circled with a high guard, it was the unbeaten Bermondsey man who seemed more relaxed under the York Hall lights, working in and out of range to fire home to both the head and body.

In the second, Cheeseman started to go through the gears, a flash right uppercut and short right combination landing clean before a huge right hook rocked the Welshman back.

The domestic dust-up really caught fire in the next, Dixon marching out all guns blazing and willingly trading with the Londoner in the centre of the ring.

Despite the rise in intensity, Cheeseman remained the man on top, his high work ethic and relentless pressure beginning to take effect on the Welsh super welterweight.

The fight continued in similar fashion in the following rounds before the Londoner really showed his class in the sixth, demonstrating great head movement and shot selection to totally outwork his game opponent.

Still, though, Dixon was proving incredibly brave, and in the seventh, even with huge blows regularly catching him flush, he found a home for some of his own swinging shots.

Three crunching rights wobbled the Welshman in the last, but the 25-year-old hung in the air to hear the final bell.
