Kell Brook will remain in the hunt for 'big fights' ahead of comeback, says Eddie Hearn

Kell Brook “needs boxing in his life” and could have five more fights, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn.

Brook is expected to return in early March as a light-middleweight in his home city of Sheffield after back-to-back defeats to Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr, in which he broke a different eye socket in each fight.

"I'm looking forward to him getting back to Sheffield where he has had a lot of glory," said Hearn.

"We need to get Kell back in love with the sport. He's coming off two defeats and some criticism, which he didn't take well, so we need to get him winning and enjoying it.

"He could have five fights left in him. It's a tough division. It's not just about world titles, at this stage. It's about being involved in big fights. The Amir Khan fight remains something he, and all of Britain, wants."

But former IBF welterweight titleholder Brook is already eyeing up the world champions in his new division at 154lbs - Jermell Charlo, Jarrett Hurd, Sadam Ali and Erislandy Lara.

"I think I'll have a meaningful fight, a comeback fight, a warm-up fight, and then we'll be looking at jumping back on the high horse for a world title," Brook said last month.

"They are all very good fighters, they are all world champions, they are all talented fighters. Once I come back with a win, and my confidence is up there again, I'll be looking at those names."

Hearn added: "He wants to be in proper fights to test himself. You can't fight Gennady Golovkin then Errol Spence Jr then a nobody, and expect yourself to be motivated.

"He has got to re-motivate himself. Boxing is a very important part of his life and, without it, there is a void. He needs boxing in his life."
