Naoya Inoue is relishing the opportunity to make his stateside debut and has vowed to make a statement against Antonio Nieves.

Japan's Inoue, 24, will defend his WBO world title against American Nieves as part of a spectacular super-flyweight tripleheader from California this Sunday morning, to be shown live on Sky Sports.

Known as "The Monster", Inoue is already a two-weight world champion and the unbeaten star is predicted to soon become a pound-for-pound star.

His fight with Nieves will mark his first outing away from his native country and Inoue wants to show the world what he is all about.

"I am excited for this fight and to make my U.S debut," Inoue told Fightnews.com.

"Nieves has a very solid foundation of fundamental boxing and throws great one-twos. I am ready to show the world who I am."

Tune into Sky Sports Main Event this Sunday at 3.15am for some super-flyweight action with Sor Rungvisai v Gonzalez II topping the bill.

Nieves, 30, from Cleveland, Ohio, is appreciative of the talents of Inoue, but is confident that he has the capabilities to shock the champion and snatch the super-flyweight title.

"He is great fighter and champion for a reason. He will come to impress and we are in his way. My preparation was great. We trained in Cleveland. We are on point. There were no setbacks," Nieves said.

"It will be an explosive fight, but we are coming out with victory and I am going to win the title. I am taking it back to Cleveland."
