Andre Ward can reinforce his status as one of boxing's pound-for-pound best if he defeats Sergey Kovalev, but where does he feature in Eddie Hearn's top five?

The American is considered one of the finest fighters on the planet and can extend his 31-fight unbeaten record in Saturday's rematch with Kovalev in Las Vegas, live on Sky Sports.

Ward has reigned supreme at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight, but where should he rank in the pound-for-pound top five of elite boxers? Promoter Hearn is the first of our leading boxing figures to compile his own list.

1.) Andre Ward

Andre Ward

In terms of what he's done and how he's done it - it's Andre Ward. Stylistically I don't think he's great to watch, but he is outstanding in what he does.

2.) Vasyl Lomachenko

I'm going to go for Lomachenko. He's a genius. The only way he is going to get beat again is if he continues to go up the weight classes.

There is no one that is going to beat him at feather or super-feather. Lightweight, him against Mike Garcia, you would still fancy him. Super-lightweight, I mean how far do you want him to go to get beat?

3.) Terence Crawford

WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford poses with belts after his unanimous decisionwin over WBC champion Viktor Postol

Crawford is at number three, not because of his standout wins, just because of how good he is and how easily he's beaten these guys.

Also See:

He could have a unified fight with Julius Indongo at super-lightweight and then I think he could move up to welter and beat everyone as well.

4.) Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez

Canelo Alvarez stands with the WBC middleweight belt after defeating Amir Khan with a sixth-round knockout at a WBC middleweight title

I'm going to go for 'Canelo', because I rate him highly and since the Floyd Mayweather defeat he's come back and beaten people with ease.

His resume is lacking in wins, although he has fought a lot of names. But if he beats Gennady Golovkin, I would move him to No 1 in the pound-for-pound list.

5.) Gennady Golovkin

BOXING O2 ARENA, LONDON 10/9/16.PIC;LAWRENCE LUSTIG.WBC, IBF, & IBO WORLD MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP.GENNADY GOLOVKIN v KELL BROOK

I will put Golovkin at number five and he only just makes my number five, because of his resume against middleweights, not because of his own fault.

I just wonder if the age, the training camps, everything is creeping up with him. The winner of Canelo-Golovkin, you could see move into the top two.
