Gennady Golovkin's trainer believes Daniel Jacobs could be the biggest threat to his middleweight crown.

Abel Sanchez has warned 'Tripple G' not to get into a street fight when he takes on his mandatory challenger at Madison Square Garden on March 18.

Golovkin (36-0-KO33) will put his WBA 'Super', WBC and IBF world titles on the line but with Jacobs holding the WBA regular strap and carrying an 88 per cent knockout ration into the ring, the champion's trainer wants to see a different approach.

"It's not that he doesn't train, because he trains very hard for every fight, but when the fight finally happen his interest is not as strong," Sanchez told BoxingScene.com.

"Danny presents the kind of challenge, or a perceived threat where he can win. He hits hard enough where he can hurt Golovkin. He has 29 knockouts in 33 fights, so only three guys went the distance - the same as Golovkin."

"This is the first fighter who really poses that kind of threat, to Golovkin and to me.

After he hurt Brook in the first round he wanted to make it a street fight. But this is the first fight, since the Lemieux fight, where the interest is back for him

"Also, because obviously I don't want this [streak of wins and knockouts] to end - I have to make sure that we do the things that are necessary to where we destroy him in the same way that we've destroyed everybody else."

Jacobs (32-1-KO29) has only lose once, seven years ago, and cemented the mandatory shot by stopping Sergio Mora in seven, the night before Golovkin stopped Kell Brook in five, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Sanchez included the Brook fight as an example of the sort of risky approach he does not want to see against 'Miracle Man' Jacobs, who has beaten cancer.

Highlights of Kell Brook v Gennady Golovkin

"In the Monroe fight, he kept egging Willie to come on, give it a fight, because once it gets too easy for him he loses interest.

"In the Wade fight it was the same thing. Even against Brook, after he hurt Brook in the first round he wanted to make it a street fight. But this is the first fight, since the [David] Lemieux fight, where the interest is back for him."
