Trainer Shane McGuigan believes Ohara Davies will never make it to world level and would get soundly beaten by Josh Taylor if they were to face each other.
McGuigan is currently out in Las Vegas ahead of Carl Frampton's featherweight world title rematch with Leo Santa Cruz, which will be shown on Sky Sports this Sunday morning.
Also on the bill will be rising Scottish star Josh Taylor (7-0-KO7), who arrived on the scene in emphatic fashion with a stoppage win over Dave Ryan to win the Commonwealth title last time out.
McGuigan has high hopes for his charge Taylor making it to the very top, while he is dismissive of the chances of fellow unbeaten super-lightweight Davies (14-0-KO11) doing so, someone he says will never "materialise to anything".
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, he said: "I don't think Ohara Davies will ever make it to world level or materialise to anything.
"He has amazing attributes, his toughness, long arms and is a hard puncher, but his feet are terrible and he would get easily outboxed by someone with the pedigree of [Josh] Taylor.
"We would 100 per cent take that fight now, it's one of those domestic scraps that can be made at British level or do you wait to get it on for world honours.
"George Groves and James DeGale fought at British and now they are at world level and could compete again, but I don't think Ohara will get there.
"I have full confidence that Taylor will get to the world stage, so it may be a missed opportunity if we don't fight Davies now."
Watch Carl Frampton's rematch against Leo Santa Cruz in Las Vegas, live on Sky Sports 1, from 1am on Sunday, January 29.
