Watch Sky Sports’ experts discuss the scoring for James DeGale and Badou Jack’s draw, and decide for yourself.
The unification fight in New York City on Saturday night to bring together DeGale’s IBF and Jack’s WBC super-middleweight titles was scored as a majority draw after each man climbed off the canvas.
One judge scored DeGale as the winner but the other two handed out 113-113 verdicts, meaning DeGale and Jack both keep their respective belts.
“It was a great effort from both lads and, after that performance, you can probably agree that neither of them deserve to lose,” said Paul Smith.
“We’re not talking about the skills – we’re talking about the heart, and the desire, and the will to win.”
On Jack’s canny defence, Smith said: “We have inconsistencies in boxing. When it’s Floyd Mayweather, it’s a masterclass. When other top fighters like Jack doing it to one of our own, like DeGale, we don’t tend to score it like it should be scored.
“Boxing is very subjective, it’s how you see the fight."
Darren Barker added: “I had Jack winning. I had it dead-even going into the last round. But there were a couple of rounds that I scored even. It was a matter of opinions on how you scored it.”
