James DeGale is looking forward to catching up with Floyd Mayweather, who he says has a "soft spot" for him.
The IBF world super-middleweight champion is heading out to Miami to finalise preparations for his unification fight with Badou Jack in New York on January 14, live on Sky Sports.
DeGale was handed a tiara labelling him a diva in the press conference to confirm the Barclays Center unification fight that will see the American-based fighter put his WBC title on the line.
It came from Mayweather himself and his promotional team but 'Chunky' is expecting the former world No 1 to finally catch up with him in fight week out in America.
"It's a bit weird because every time I meet Floyd Mayweather, it seems like he likes me," DeGale told Sky Sports.
"After the last press conference, it was a bit busy and a bit hectic, but my mum got a text from his PA and it said: Floyd didn't get the chance to catch-up with James, can Floyd have James's number, please.
"He wants me to be part of the Money Team, I'm telling you. He's got a soft spot for me, I'm telling you.
"But skills pay the bills and that's that."
DeGale, trainer Jim McDonnell and his close-nit team are heading over to America to finish training in Miami, before moving to New York for fight week.
