Amir Khan believes Kell Brook will be his 'next big fight' and expects to make his comeback from a hand operation in April.
The former two-weight world champion has successfully recovered from extensive surgery on a long-standing injury in September and is planning two fights next year, which could include a long-awaited British battle with Brook.
Khan expects to return to the ring in the spring, following by another bout at the end of the year, and has suggested that IBF welterweight champion Brook and Danny Garcia, the WBC title holder at 147lbs, are his two likely opponents.
"I want to be back in the ring around April time and then again at the end of the year," Khan told The Bolton News. "I had the hand operation and it feels brand new.
"I can't wait to get in the ring at 147 again, which is my weight division. I think these next few years are going to be my best.
"I have been on a downer since the last fight with the injury and all that. Now I cannot wait to get back in training with my trainer Virgil [Hunter].
"I want Garcia but won't be able to do that in April as he is down to have his unification fight in March. If he doesn't then I will jump at that.
"I am going back down to 147 and still have that position as number one mandatory. But I think that [Kell Brook] will be the next big fight for me. It would be massive - a super fight."
The 30-year-old suffered a knockout defeat when he stepped up in weight to challenge Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez for the WBC middleweight title in May, but remains confident he can regain one of the belts in the welterweight division.
"I don't care about criticism about fighting Canelo," said Khan. "I did it for myself - I wanted to prove to myself I could win that fight.
"Obviously I didn't but any doubters don't get to me.
"I know I can win a world title at 147 and people will forget about the defeats."
Khan also revealed on Twitter that he intends to make announcement 'soon' on next opponent.
