Nicholas Walters wants to take the decision out of the judges' hands when he takes on Vasyl Lomachenko this weekend.

'The Axe Man', 30, is looking to become a two-weight world champion by defeating Lomachenko and securing the WBO super-featherweight world title at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

Walters (26-0-1-KO21) previously held the WBA featherweight crown and powerfully defeated the likes of Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchinyan during his title reign.

Now, although the hard-hitting and unbeaten Jamaican faces his toughest test to date as he takes on the sensational Ukrainian, widely regarded as one of the finest amateur boxers of all time, he is confident of finishing the fight early.

"This is a great opportunity to show the world my talent and I'm not planning on going the distance, I've trained to get him out of the ring before the final bell," Walters told Behind The Gloves.

"Lomachenko is a two-weight world champion and an Olympic champion so he has a lot of credentials. He had a long-running and far more advanced amateur career than I had so he has a lot of experience in that sense.

"If the fight goes the distance, you leave it up to the judges and sometimes the judges can see it differently to the rest of the world, but it's their opinion that counts - I try best to not leave it to judges.

"The judges are there to judge, my job is to fight, whatever decision they come up with, we live with it. I have twelve rounds to try and take it out of their hands."

Meanwhile, Lomachenko (6-1-KO4) - who won the WBO belt from Roman Martinez with a vicious fifth-round stoppage in June - is confident of dictating the high-profile fight.

Also speaking to Behind the Gloves, he said: "This fight all depends on me and It will be up to me as to whether this fight goes the distance or finishes early.

"I always do what I say I will do and If I didn't people would lose respect for me. I will do that again and maintain their respect."
