Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis thinks Andre Ward holds a slight advantage over Sergey Kovalev ahead of their fight in Las Vegas

Lennox Lewis is backing Andre Ward to beat Sergey Kovalev in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The former undisputed heavyweight world champion is in Las Vegas for the "great" showdown between the unbeaten light-heavyweights, which you can watch on Sky Sports 1HD.

Ward will be making his Vegas debut and Lewis, who boxed there six times when he dominated the heavyweight scene from 1999-2003, believes the American will remain undefeated and become boxing's pound-for-pound king.

"You've got two undefeated guys, you've got Andre Ward moving up a weight class and you've got Kovalev who is the king of this class, both of them have been at the peak of their weight class and yet they are meeting," Lewis told Sky Sports.

"I think it's a style match-up because both have different styles, but I may give the edge to Ward, although he is taking on a bigger and heavier guy.

"I believe Andre has to get it going from the get-go. Kovalev is great at distance and Andre really has to cut down the space between them.

Here's how either Ward or Kovalev could win Saturday's big light-heavyweight fight in Las Vegas

"Both of them have knock-out power, so we are in for a serious fight. I believe this is the pound-for-pound title. Both of them are very gifted at their craft and both of them take it very seriously."

Ward and Kovalev shared a respectful final news conference before their fight in Las Vegas this weekend

"If Kovalev finds it hard to hit Andre and get in on him it may be one plus to him [Ward]," Lewis added. "If Ward can't get in and get into Kovalev's body or hit him with any combinations, it will be a plus for him [Kovalev].

"Each of these are going to challenge the other and bring the best out of each other."
