Malik Scott told Michelle Joy Phelps that Luis Ortiz is not the perfect fighter and has seen faults he can exploit on November 12.

Malik Scott says he wanted a high-risk fight with Luis Ortiz and had also been pursuing the big-punching duo of Anthony Joshua and David Haye.

The American was last week confirmed as the latest opponent for the unbeaten Ortiz in a bill-topping heavyweight battle in Monte Carlo on November 12, live on Sky Sports.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has added Ortiz to his Matchroom Boxing stable and hopes to move 'King Kong' towards a world title shot in 2017.

With 22 stoppages in 25 fights, Ortiz has gained the respect of Scott, but he has been waiting for a chance to prove himself against the best in the division and had targeted the Cuban or the British pair of Joshua and Haye.

"I picked to fight Luis Ortiz," Scott told Michelle Joy Phelps of Behind the Gloves. "Months ago after he beat Bryant Jennings, I seen that they were basically crowning him like the next big thing, so that is the guy I wanted to fight.

"If I wasn't going to fight him, I was trying to get David Haye or Anthony Joshua. Those were the three names and out of the three, this one came up.

"Anybody will fight him for the right amount of money. I'm probably the only guy that will fight him when money is not the issue.

"He's a southpaw, he's 6'4", he has a hell of a pedigree. He can fight, he is dangerous, but that means I want to fight you, I gravitate to that. It's a big risk. The reward is even bigger and I am so up for this challenge."

Despite Ortiz's impressive record, Scott insists he has spotted weaknesses in the 37-year-old southpaw and plans to exploit them next month.

I don't see invincibility, I don't see what the casual fans see. It's my job to take advantage of those loopholes.

"I don't see perfection," said Scott, who defeated Tony Thompson on points in his last fight.

"I don't see invincibility, I don't see what the casual fans see. It's my job to take advantage of those loopholes. If I can take advantage of them, he's going to leave the ring with one loss.

"If he can take advantage of the things he's seen in me, then I'll lose. The best man will win."
