Hosea Burton showed his power with an impressive third-round stoppage of experienced Mexican Fernando Castaneda.

The unbeaten light-heavyweight had his man down three times with his vicious right, the third and final one leaving the Mexican slumped on the ropes forcing referee Mark Lyson to step in.

It was the second of Joe Gallagher's fights of a busy night at the Manchester Arena, topped by gym-mate Anthony Crolla and the 28-year-old known as 'The Hammer' was clearly out to spare his trainer some preparation time for the big one.

Burton made a typically confident start, his height advantage allowing him to jab from range and circle Castaneda to ease into proceedings.

The second round saw more of the same, but the first right uppercut landed and suggested the Mexican known as El Huricane could easily be blown away.

Half-way through the third round, Burton's right overhand had his man in trouble and one more that landed on his temple had Castaneda down for the first time.

Hosea Burton said he was disappointed with Frank Buglioni for pulling out of their fight after he stopped Fernando Castenada in three rounds

He made it up after eight, but less than 30 seconds later another right uppercut right under the ribs had him struggling and another right to the head put him on his back again.

Burton knew he would move to 18-0-KO9 and did just that with another right bodyshot leaving the Mexican on the ropes with nowhere to go and no chance of recovering.
