Scott Quigg says he would turn down the chance to fight Leo Santa Cruz because it would get in the way of a possible rematch with Carl Frampton.
The former WBA super-bantamweight world champion will return to the ring in November, after fracturing his jaw and losing to Frampton in a world title unification fight in February.
'The Jackal' is now up at featherweight to take on WBA Super world champion Santa Cruz on July 30 and even though Quigg expects the Mexican star to come out on top, he would snub any offer to face him because he still wants to avenge the Frampton defeat.
"I know what I want and what drives me and that is the one I want," he told Sky Sports in an exclusive interview.
"Whether it's the next fight, the one after or in the next four or five fights, everything I do now will work towards it.
"Frampton could lose to Santa Cruz - and I do believe he will get beaten - and Santa Cruz could offer me a fight but I would turn it down because I want to fight Frampton.
"That's what I want to do and, until that is put right, that is my focus. I want to win a world title and make sure people want to see it again - and I will do whatever I have to do."
Quigg is happy to move up to featherweight to increase the chances of the Frampton rematch after spending his entire career at super-bantamweight.
The 27-year-old is now back sparring after five months out due to the jaw injury and knows a world title at either weight could become a bargaining tool.
Current IBF featherweight world champion Lee Selby and his team are waiting to take on the winner of Santa Cruz v Frampton, a fight for which Quigg is hoping his own prediction comes true.
"I believe Santa Cruz beats him but the closer the fight gets, I am giving Frampton a better chance," he said.
"I am a boxing fan and I have watched a bit of Santa Cruz and if he is the same Santa Cruz that beat Abner Mares, he beats Frampton comfortably.
"But we don't know how is head is because his dad's been diagnosed with cancer and that will play on your mind. From a fan's perspective, I just hope he is able to use it as an inspiration, not just because I want him to beat Frampton."
