WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas believes he will expose Kell Brook’s weaknesses if they meet in a unification showdown later this year.
Vargas (27-1-KO10) claimed the WBO strap with a knockout victory over Sadam Ali in March, while Brook (36-0-KO25) retained his IBF title last month by stopping mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier inside two rounds.
Eddie Hearn, Brook's promoter, confirmed last Saturday that talks were under way to secure a unification bout with Vargas and stated that the proposed fight made "perfect sense".
Despite having had eight fewer fights than Brook, American Vargas feels his experience against "tougher opposition" would be a decisive factor in a clash against the British fighter.
"I haven't seen too much of him. I saw him fight Carson Jones and Shawn Porter, he's a good fighter," he told behindthegloves.com. "I've got to give him credit, but he's definitely beatable and he's definitely vulnerable in certain areas.
"He's a good fighter and a good champion. But the experience that I have is much higher than the experience he has. I think I have faced much tougher opposition, so the experience would be to my benefit."
He added: "It is a fight that can be made and, of course, I am interested in unifying the belts with any champion in my division.
"I am champion of the world and I am looking to get the next two, three belts. So, it's definitely a fight that I am interested in."
Vargas has only fought outside of the United States once in his career - a unanimous decision victory over Antonio DeMarco in Macau - and he was less than enamoured by the thought of fighting in Great Britain.
"I am not interested in going to the UK, but we have to figure out the possibility of him coming over here," he said.
"If it doesn't seem that he wants to fight in the US than we might have to see what they have to offer over in England.
"If we do come to an agreement, it should be this year. Maybe later in the year. Negotiations have just started so we'll just have to wait and find out.
"They say something about August, maybe September. The possibility of it happening isn't very high just yet."
