Eric Hunter has branded Lee Selby a 'cry baby' after lodging a protest against his points defeat by the IBF featherweight champion.

The American floored Selby for the first time in his professional career, but was then docked a point by referee Marcus McDonnell for a low blow in the seventh round as the Welshman retained his title with a unanimous decision.

Hunter says he has appealed to the IBF and has questioned both the point deduction and the verdict by the judges on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's heavyweight title win over Charles Martin.

"I got a bad break up there. I wanted to fight in front of all the UK fans and I wanted to give them a good fight," Hunter exclusively told Sky Sports.

"Lee Selby is a cry baby, he plays with the referee a lot. He really don't have that much heart. I thought he was a better champion that what he showed. I still think I won the fight 7-5.

"Being honest with you, I thought I was going to knock him out. Something has got to happen, they are going to have to fix this up. I'm trying to get a rematch, but I would like it to be in the States.

"I hope I do get a rematch because it showed that he can't really beat me. If it was on an even playing field, he would have lost by KO."

The Philadelphian, who has two defeats by disqualification on his record, suggested that Selby's shorts were riding up high and he was being hurt by legal blows.

"He can't take body shots, he had his trunks up really high," said Hunter. "If you see my trunks, you see my belly button and everything. He had his trunks real high, he don't like body shots. He was hurt, he was making noises and everything. He don't like body shots.

"You go watch the fight. When I threw a jab to the body, the referee said 'keep them up'. He was running and holding. I have never seen anyone hold that much in all my life."

Selby reacts to his successful title defence

Hunter called on the IBF to "do the right thing" and award him a rematch but doubts Selby would want to fight him again.

"At the end of the day everybody knows who Lee Selby is," said Hunter. "I don't like him. I don't like the way he played with the fight and played with the fans. If the fans are really behind him like that, they're crazy.

"He's not going to give me a rematch, he would be crazy. We're doing a protest with the IBF. I'm hoping they do the right thing."
