David Haye can't wait to knock out 'idiot' Shannon Briggs

David Haye reacts as US Boxer Shannon Briggs (not pictured) interrupts a press conference at Grosvenor House, London.

David Haye thinks Shannon Briggs is an "idiot" and cannot wait to knock him out.

The British heavyweight is on collision course with 'The Cannon' who - providing he gets a British boxing licence - will appear on his undercard at The O2 on May 21.

Briggs has been calling Haye out since he arrived in London three weeks ago and interrupted his press conference at the start of April, which led to the former WBA world champion seemingly happy to put him on his bill and set up a showdown after that.

But a confrontation at the Charles Martin and Anthony Joshua weigh-in on Friday means Haye is no longer seeing the funny side of the 44-year-old's antics, and is ready to make him pay the price if they do get it on.

Shannon Briggs simply won't leave David Haye alone. This time, they clashed at the O2 in London

"He's an idiot," he told Sky Sports at the O2 on Saturday, when him and Briggs did not meet. "He is going to get knocked out.

"I know people think he's fun, but not me. He might have been funny when he was doing his stuff to Klitschko, but trust me, it's not funny for me. Him chasing me around is driving me nuts."

Haye was the first to hunt down the Klitschko brothers, his infamous severed head T-shirt and meeting on an escalator upsetting both Ukrainian brothers around six years ago.

His fight with the older brother, Vitali, was cancelled due to injury and when he eventually fought Wladimir in Hamburg in 2011, he lost his WBA heavyweight world title.

David Haye has finally had it with Shannon Briggs and sent him this message

Briggs has since done the same with the younger brother, chasing him in a speedboat and dropping into his gym in the last two years, but Haye warned the American it will be anything but amusing if they do meet in the ring.

"All I know is that he won't be smiling or fun when I get in the ring with him," he said.

"He'll get knocked out. Then his fun will be over."
