David Haye urges WBA champion Lucas Browne to fight him next

David Haye is hoping he will put enough money on the table to lure Lucas Browne into fighting him next.

The Londoner insists he will present an "interesting package" to the new WBA world heavyweight champion by the end of the week and hopes to by-pass usual mandatory rulings.

Browne (24-0-KO21) is due to make his first defence against Fres Oquendo but Haye (27-2-KO25), who was the WBA champion between 2009 and 2011, is planning to send an offer to the Australian by the end of the week.

"I am trying to come up with something that makes everybody happy, particularly Browne," he said on sportsviewlondon.com.

"I will hopefully present something to you this week. If it's no good, then you can go and fight Fres Oquendo and earn what you're going to earn.

"But fingers crossed, I will get something to you that makes you happy. If not and you don't want to fight me, just say you don't want to fight me, I'll stop wasting my time.

"The whole idea of boxing - for me - is to win belts and earn money. You've won a title, now it's time to earn some money Browne.

"So get behind this, get involved, get happy. Try and make this happen. I want you to earn some dough dude, I really do want you to earn some money and I really want to fight you.

"I think it will be a great fight."

If there's enough money in the pot to keep him happy, Oquendo happy, me happy, the WBA happy, then nine times out of 10 these things happen.

Haye admits that the mandatory rulings could make his plan difficult, but claimed a similar scenario did not stop him challenging Nikolai Valuev in November 2009, when he was crowned heavyweight world champion after winning on points in Nuremberg, Germany.

The two-weight world champion says John Ruiz was supposed to be the champion's mandatory challenger but he moved to the front of the queue by not only offering more money to Valuev, but also agreeing to let Ruiz have the first crack at the winner.

His message to Browne came from his London gym, where he is in training ahead of his May 21 fight that still has no confirmed opponent.

Shannon Briggs arrives in London and says he wants to fight Tyson Fury, David Haye and Anthony Joshua during his trip to England.

Shannon Briggs had no luck when he turned up there on Wednesday to call Haye out but the speculation increased when a member of Oquendo's team was in the gym.

"I am fully aware he [Browne] has mandatory obligations with Fres Oquendo - and his trainer is right here - and he's aware of it, we're all aware of it," Haye said.

"But if there's enough money in the pot to keep him happy, Oquendo happy, me happy, the WBA happy, then nine times out of 10 these things happen."
