Martin Murray tells us he wants George Groves next

Martin Murray called for a British battle with George Groves after watching his middleweight rival's stoppage win over Andrea Di Luisa.

The St Helens man kept a close eye on Groves during the latter's dominant fifth-round stoppage win over the Italian at the Copper Box Arena.

Both men have fallen short at world title level, but Murray is now targeting a big domestic fight in the super-middleweight division and has set his sights on Groves.

Assessing the performance of Groves, Murray told Sky Sports: "Yeah, I thought he did well. He controlled it with his jab.

Now it seems with me moving up to super-middleweight, the domestic fights can happen.

"We all know George has got a good jab. There wasn't much coming back from the kid. You cannot really work out much on that fight if I'm honest with you, because George Groves just looked a class above.

"But myself personally, from my point of view, it's a fight I want and a fight I'm confident of winning.

"I've said this for years now. I've always wanted the big domestic fights. When I was a middleweight, I wanted them with (Darren) Barker, I wanted them with (Matthew) Macklin - they never happened. I then went on to world level.

George Groves says he will fight anyone after he beat Di Luisa in the fifth round and his coach believes it won't be long until he is challenging for a wor

"Now it seems with me moving up to super-middleweight, the domestic fights can happen. Like I've said, I've always wanted them, so I just want to be involved in big domestic fights and George Groves is a big domestic fight.

"It doesn't have to be for a world title. An eliminator, something like that would be good. Even if it's not, just me and him is a good fight."

Murray believes he would draw a huge crowd if the fight was held in his hometown, but is willing to travel for his fight with Groves.

"I know if he came and fought me in St Helens at Langtree Park, we would sell it out," said Murray.

"It holds 18,000 and that's something that I would be looking to do, but whether he would come up and fight me, I don't know. But as people know, I will go anywhere and fight anyone. If it's done here, it's down here."
